Mythic VC is a venture platform structured around a single thesis: capital and operating leadership belong in the same room. The mission is to help founders move faster, navigate the journey, and amplify their existing advantages. When the company needs more than capital, they have an operating partner already on the cap table. Founders deserve more beyond the wire.
Investments are focused on the Future of Commerce sector, the companies reshaping how goods and services are discovered, bought, sold, and built. Consumer Tech, Fintech, AI, Adtech, Retail Tech, Supply Chain Tech, Commerce Infrastructure, Marketplaces, and adjacent categories all sit inside the thesis. Select opportunities outside the core mandate are considered on exception.
Developed over a career of operating and investing, the Midas Star framework is how Mythic evaluates companies and gives portfolio founders a shared map of the ten core milestones that separate a company built to exit from one built to endure.
Myths are the stories that endure. They get told across generations because they carry valuable lessons, dressed up in a story strong enough to remember. The best companies do the same thing. They build a generational legacy that outlasts the news cycles, the funding cycles, and most of the people who built them.
Mythology is a treasure trove of lessons with analogs to business. King Midas is a prime example. The Midas Star, our north star, has been used as an ancient symbol of prosperity for centuries for what Midas got right, while the broader story carries a warning about what he got wrong. We look for founders with the same combination: ambition that compounds, and the discipline not to break the thing that makes it work.
The Midas Star is drawn in a single unbroken line, representing the journey every company is on. No path in business is straight. The star was chosen for its imperfect shape and complex pattern, the zigs and zags, the pivots, and the inflection points every business moves through before completing its star. The final stroke beneath the star is added only when the company completes the journey. It grounds the symbol of prosperity, and represents the final milestone: the exit.
Taylor founded his first company at fifteen with his father, a wine venture that became the operational foundation for everything that followed. He later moved into finance after completing his graduate studies, building a career across venture capital, private equity, and M&A.
Earlier in his career, Taylor was a Director at Lambert Media Group, where he worked on lower-middle market roll-ups and multi-billion dollar acquisitions. He then joined XponentialWorks, where he led the venture platform, working alongside portfolio founders on follow-on capital and operations, and led the firm's digital transformation advisory practice for mid-market enterprise clients.
Prior to Mythic VC, Taylor was an early hire and an M&A leader at Boosted Commerce, a VC-backed Amazon aggregator, where he led several of the firm's 30+ acquisitions and scaled its M&A operations with new systems, processes, and workflow automations streamlining the firm's acquisition and integration processes. He also brought his CPG operator experience to support the operations team across the portfolio.
Through Mythic VC, Taylor has led the integration management office for NTWRK and Universal Music Group's $108M acquisition of Complex Networks from BuzzFeed, selected over Bain to design and execute the integration. Core integration milestones landed ahead of schedule. He has also served as the interim COO of a confidential eight-figure DtC beauty brand, leading a turnaround that unlocked tens of millions in trapped profits.
Over his career, Taylor has founded and operated three consumer companies: Tayson Pierce Estate Wines, Champagne Eric Philippe, and Frestyle Co.
Outside of work, Taylor loves being in the outdoors, whether hiking the Italian Dolomites or skiing in Park City, Utah. He also moonlights as a photographer and loves investing in his friends and community.
